Committe Meeting held on Nov 7 1905

Present Mrs. F. E. Ashwell Cooke (chair), Miss Bennett, Miss Gaskell, Miss Emily Cox, Mr. Herford, Mr. T. R.Marr, Mr. J. J.Mallin (shop assistants), Mr. H. A. Crick (Bakers & Confectioners), Mr. Hughes (Fancy Leather Workers), Mrs. O. M. Aldridge (Secretary)

Apologies. Letters of apology were received from Miss Bulley, Miss Margaret Ashton, Mrs. Findlay, Mrs. Conway, Mrs. Eddie, Mrs. Welsh, Mrs. C. E. Schwann, Miss Hesse & Mr. Councillor Johnston.

Resignations. Miss C. J. Dodd & Mr. F. Brocklehurst wrote resigning their membership on the Council.

Minutes. Minutes of last Council Meeting read & confirmed.

National Housing Reform Council. Mr. Herford reported that he had received a request from the Secretary of the Nat. Housing Reform Council, for part use of office for letters & occasional meetings for payment of £6 a year.

Mr. Herford moved & Miss Cox seconded that use of office be granted on these terms subject to consent of the landlord for letting & for small plate to be fixed to the office door. Carried.

Fancy Leather Workers Representation. A letter from Mr. Fisher (Fancy Leather Workers) was then read saying that his Committee had appointed Mr. Hughes to represent them on the Council. Mr.Hughes was present.

Evening Meetings. The question of Evening Meetings was next considered.The Secretary reported that all the Members of the Council had been written to in regard to the proposed change & out of 27 replies received only two members had stated they would be inconvenienced if future meetings were held in the evening. After some discussion it was agreed on the motion of Councillor T. R. Marr & Miss J. B. Gaskell that future Council Meetings be held in the evening of the first Tuesday of each month at 7.30 o’clock.

Miss Cox Report on Education Committee. Miss Emily Cox then gave a brief report of her work on the Education Committee for the past year.
