Mr. C. E. Schwann, M.P.

Charles Ernest Schwann (1844  - 1929)  attended Owen’s College in Manchester and afterwards University  College, London. He worked as a merchant in Manchester and was a leading member of the Liberal Federation in the city,  as well as many other progressive organisations  He was elected as a Liberal MP in 1886 for Manchester North and remained an MP until 1918. In 1913 he changed his and his wife changed their name to Swann.
