Council Meeting held on Wednesday February 9th 1910 at 3.00 pm

Present Mrs. C. J. Spence (chair) Mrs. J. J. Findlay, Mr. H. V. Herford, Mr. A. A. Purcell, Councillor T. R. Marr & Mrs. O.M. Aldridge (Secretary).

Apologies. Apologies submitted for absence from Councillor Margaret Ashton, Miss Emily Cox, Mr. H. V. Roe.

Minutes. The Minutes of the last meeting were read and passed.

Finance. The month’s financial statement was presented by the Treasurer.

Fifteenth Annual Meeting. It was reported that the fifteenth Annual Meeting was held in the Lord Mayors Parlour on Tuesday, February 8th at 3 o’cock. Tea was given by the Lady Mayoress. The Lord Mayor opened the meeting and the chair was then taken by the Lady Mayoress. Speakers were Mrs. Pember Reeves who spoke on “The Working of Compulsory Arbitration Boards”, Mrs A. Amy Brooke, Mrs. H. M. Swanwick, Rev. Dr. Anselm Poock , Mrs. F. M. Eddie, Councillor Margaret Ashton, Mr. Herford and Mrs. Aldridge.

Sub-Committee Minutes. The Sub-Committee Minutes were read. These showed that a meeting of confectioners was held at 56 Swan Street on January 26: that a meeting of midwives had been held at Ashton and a Branch of the Association formed for Ashton, Stalybridge, Hyde and Dukinfield: that a month’s organisation work for the Amalgamated Union of Clothiers Operatives was undertaken.

The Sub-Committee had agreed to ask for representation on the new Advisory Committee under formation in connection with the Labour Exchange.
