Executive Committee meeting held Wednesday, January 8th 1919 at 3.00pm

Members present:-Miss Emily Cox (chair), Miss Margaret Ashton, Miss Ashcroft, Mrs. Findlay, Mrs. Withington, Mr. Herford.

An apology of absence was received from Mrs. F.E. Ashwell Cooke.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and passed.

Arising out of minutes it was reported that no reply had been received from Miss MacArthur.

The Trades Council representatives were still fixing up a meeting with the Unions at John Dalton Street on the question of amalgamation.

The Treasurer gave a financial statement. It was resolved to send out a circular to all subscribers explaining the position of the Council’s proposal re-amalgamation with the Trades and Labour Council, and a special slip to be sent to those who had already sent donations.

The Sub-Committee minutes were read. These reported that in the Woodworking trade a great deal of unemployment existed amongst the members, and it was suggested to arrange for an interview with the Carpenters’ and Joiners’ Society on the question of allowing women to work on certain jobs.

Meetings had taken place of the Burnage Branch of the National Federation of Women Workers and help had been given with the books. It was agreed to hold a council meeting on January 13th at 7 o’clock. Tea to be provided.
